THE PRESIDENT'S CUP

The President's Cup, a trophy modelled of 24-karat gold and silver, is identical to the Ryder Cup and was crafted by British silversmith, Desmond Clen-Murphy.

A competition, using the Ryder Cup format, is contested between teams representing the Pulpit and the Paintbrush courses. The cup resides in the trophy case of the course that wins and has the names of all 12 members of the the victorious team engraved on it.

Eight qualifying rounds are held throughout the summer with four played on the Pulpit course and four on the Paintbrush course to determine the teams. Play is conducted under a Modified Stableford system using full handicap so anyone is capable of making a team. Point totals for the four best rounds are counted.

Festivities include a team dinner (in team uniforms of course blazer and tie), and a gala award night and dinner for team members and all persons who attempted to qualify during the season. Silver and gold medals are presented to both teams with many tall tales of heroics relived.

The matches, which will now happen in even years only, have become the premier event at the Devil's Pulpit Golf Association and are becoming the envy of many golf clubs around the world. While club championships promote individual play, this team event creates a unique and exciting atmosphere that we all enjoy when watching the Ryder Cup.
